⚠️ Quick Diagnostic
Before diving deep, check if your issue is thermal throttling. Download HWiNFO64 and monitor CPU/GPU temps during gaming. If either hits 85°C+, you have a cooling problem, not a Windows problem.
Step 1: Disable Windows 11 "Gaming Features"
Ironically, most of Windows 11's gaming features hurt competitive performance.
- Game Mode: Settings → Gaming → Game Mode → OFF
- Xbox Game Bar: Settings → Gaming → Xbox Game Bar → OFF
- Game DVR: Registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore → Set "GameDVR_Enabled" to 0
- Fullscreen Optimizations: Right-click game exe → Properties → Compatibility → Check "Disable fullscreen optimizations"
Step 2: NVIDIA/AMD Control Panel Settings
| Setting | NVIDIA | AMD |
| Power Mode | Prefer Maximum Performance | Performance |
| Low Latency | Ultra (if available) | Anti-Lag On |
| Texture Filter | Performance | Performance |
| Threaded Opt | Auto | N/A |
Step 3: BIOS/UEFI Tweaks
- Resizable BAR: Enable (can add 5-10% FPS)
- Above 4G Decoding: Enable (required for Resizable BAR)
- C-States: Disable for consistent CPU clocks
- HPET: Disable in Windows (bcdedit /set useplatformclock false)
